About Us - General

Keep Your Smile registered charity 1130039 and was founded in 2007 and started to receive donations in March 2009.

The charity emerged from an idea, a dream of hope that then turned into a reality. Born out of the personal experience of just one person, whose story is not dissimilar to others.

In May 2002, Michelle collapsed with a seizure and was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumour. The tumour was a grade II to III diffused astrocytoma, located in the Left Frontal Lobe area of her brain.

Michelle underwent surgery at the Hope Hospital, Salford under the care of Consultant Neurosurgeon Richard Cowie, and is continually under the care of the Neuromedical team at Hope Hospital.

Michelle subsequently received folow up treatments of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, at The Christie, Manchester, under the care of Consultant Neuro-Oncologist Dr Rao Gattameneni.

Since Michelles first visit to The Christie, to meet Dr Rao, and beginning to understand what treatments were planned she met with a Macmillan nurse named Lisa. Shortly after Michelle returned home, Claire her assigned Macmillan nurse had introduced herself. Throughout the months of treatment Michelle had regular contact with Claire, who offered support, advice, reassurance, hope, and answers to Michelle’s many questions.

This enabled Michelle, to gain the inner strength & determination enabling her to continue living each day with cancer on a day to day basis.

The charity was started in early 2007 but was subsequently put on hold in October 2007 as Michelle contracted Meningitis resulting in one sided deafness.

After all these obstacles that have been put in front of her, Michelle, the trustees, the donors and all the Keep Your Smile partners are most determined to succeed in their goal of raising one million pounds.

Although Keep Your Smile has been set up to raise as much money as possible. The charitys initial goal is to raise a million pounds,
EVERY PENNY raised will be divided between Hope Hospital, The Christie and Macmillan. NOT ONE PENNY will be taken for running the charity

With all our wonderful partners, trustees and determination, to simply raise our initial £1 million will be a “walk in the park” compared to what Michelle has been through.

About Us - Ways to donate

The three ways to donate are by patronising our KYS partners, purchasing personalised memorabilia, or by simply making a donation.

The main income generator is with our KYS partners. We currently have over thirty. The concept is very simple, everytime you use their services and spend money with them, they will donate a percentage of your spend to our charity, they will continue to do so for as long as you are one of their customers. and they remain a Keep Your Smile partner

We are always looking to add to our services partners. If you are interested in becoming a partner, know another company that is or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The memorabilia route of giving is also a very good way of helping the charity. If you have a favourite celebrity or sporting star that you want us to approach to personalise a signed photo, or piece of sporting memorabilia just let us know. We should be able to accommodate this request through our extensive social network of trust Patriots and Supporters and supply you with your piece of exclusively personalised memorabilia.

The piece of memorabilia will be signed by your hero or team and personally addressed to you, your club or company name. The minimum donation for this is now £2000. Examples are shown on the memorabilia page of the site.

The third way of giving is to simply make a personal, club or company donation. You can also organise for your pub, club, shop or business to have a collection box. Ways of donating can be found on the Donate part of the website.
